Getting the Best Experience on Your 4K Computer Monitor – Size Matters
If you’re one of the many out there looking at a new computer monitor, than I’m sure you’ve already considered 4K technology. There’s no denying the importance of any new purchase goes well beyond the price as the visual quality of what we’re viewing ultimately creates the best experience. With this being said, it doesn’t go without paying attention to the price tag, but the best thing is that you can pick up a new 4K computer monitor for relatively cheap.
Size matters, and we’ve all heard this as well. When looking at purchasing a new 4K computer monitor one must take into consideration of the size. When looking to get the best 4K experience you’ll definitely get the best viewing when looking at a larger, rather than smaller monitor.
This is because of the pixel density, and it’s easier to understand that viewing on a smaller surface makes it look all cluttered versus spreading out the pixels on a larger surface which makes it look much more natural. This is where size matters and there’s other things to consider such as the applications being used.
This is probably the single most important aspect other than the size of the monitor itself. When using applications that are not optimized for 4K resolution it virtually defeats the point. The amount of manufacturers launching apps in true 4K have increased significantly, and this will continue to be the case as the new wave of technology becomes more widespread.
Refresh Rate Contributes to the 4K Experience
Another one of those confusing terms is the refresh rate. Refresh rate is often marketed and the best way to understand what’s better is ultimately in the number itself. Typically, the refresh rate for computer monitors and TV’s can range from 30, 60, and upwards of 120hz. This number corresponds to the amount of time it takes for the screen to update itself.
When moving the mouse and watching it on the screen, a higher refresh rate would yield a natural look. On the other hand, monitors with a lower refresh rate like 30hz would yield a jittery look when moving the mouse. For those into PC gaming and live streaming, the best advice would be to go with a 4K computer monitor with a higher refresh rate such as 120hz. Today, most new monitors come standard with a refresh rate of at least 60hz, but it’s not uncommon to find a cheaper variant with an output of only 30.
